Just IN: Steve Wilks Explains Why the 49ers Signed Logan Ryan….

The 49ers can’t afford to take any chances with young players who might not be prepared for the postseason because this might be their best opportunity to win a Super Bowl.
Logan Ryan, a seasoned defensive back who appears to be only a backup for the stretch run, was signed by the 49ers this week. However, he is supporting rookie safety Ji’Ayir Brown, who is replacing All Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga, who is sidelined for the whole season due to an ACL tear.
Ryan won’t get to play if Brown does well. Nevertheless, Ryan might step in and take Brown’s job if he fails.
On Thursday, I asked defensive coordinator Steve Wilks about Ryan and Brown. Here’s what Wilks said
WILKS: “A lot of experience, two Super Bowls and a wealth of knowledge where he can communicate and talk to these young guys, particularly on the backend. And then also just understanding he’s coming into a culture that he’s probably used to. These guys know how to work. They go about their business a different way each and every day. So, I think with him coming in, it’s going to be a smooth and easy transition for him.
