News Report: NFL analyst lights fire under Commanders veteran WR on the edge

The Washington Commanders have anĀ embarrassment of riches at the wide receiver positionĀ entering 2025. This is all part of general manager Adam Peters’ master plan to surround star quarterback Jayden Daniels with the enhanced supporting cast needed to cement his elite-level status.

It also raises competition for places. Something that led one NFL analyst to quietly speculate one proven veteran might be expendable if the right trade offer comes along.

Peters isn’t in the business of removing playmakers from the equation, not this offseason. The Commanders are all-in on winning a Super Bowl, pushing their chips into the middle to maximize Daniels’ rookie contract. But if certain players don’t show enough, or those further down the pecking order make bigger strides than originally anticipated, it could shake things up considerably.

Commanders unlikely to trade Noah Brown despite NFL analyst’s projection

Gary Davenport from The Bleacher Report acknowledged that the Commanders were probably unlikely to trade any veteran piece with so much at stake in 2025. However, the analyst thought Noah Brown could become the odd man out unless the right improvements arrive this offseason

This seems like a stretch. Brown flashed moments of real class last season despite arriving late into the summer. He’s a deep threat capable of making tough catches and causing defensive pass interference penalties at will. Even though the Commanders upgraded the receiving corps, he should still have a role to play.

Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel Sr. are the top dogs. Jaylin Lane and Luke McCaffrey are the young upstarts looking to impose their will. Michael Gallup and K.J. Osborn are the savvy veterans looking for a chance to thrive. Ja’Corey Brooks is the undrafted hopeful with the physical skills needed to potentially go through onto the 53-man roster.

It’s a nice problem for the Commanders to have. Brown offers something a little different and is the clear No. 3 wideout currently. That makes trading him out of the question unless one or two surge forward sooner than anticipated
