His Back: Myles Stute set to return for 2025-26 season…

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – University of South Carolina (USC) senior guard Myles Stute was granted a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA.

Stute was given another year of eligibility and will return to USC for the 2025-2026 season.

“I want to thank coach Paris and the entire coaching staff for their continued belief in me throughout this process, as well as our entire medical staff here for their help with getting me back to being healthy and able to play the game I love,” said Stute. “It hasn’t been easy, but I’m thankful for every single person who has helped play a part in my recovery, and I’m very excited and looking forward to getting on the court with my new teammates in June and beginning the journey of this upcoming season.”

This comes after Stute missed the rest of the year after starting the first 14 games last season due to a blood clot in his leg.

He has now been medically cleared for all basketball activities.

“Myles is a great teammate and an incredibly hard worker,” said head coach Lamont Paris. “You hate for any young person to have their career end under such difficult circumstances. Through it all, though, Myles’ support for his teammates was tremendous. That’s just who he is – a terrific young man with great perspective. It’s very easy to root for Myles. What a special moment it was to hear the gratitude and emotion in Myles’ voice when he learned he would be granted an additional year of eligibility. It was rivaled only by the news from the doctors that treatment of his condition had been a success and that he was medically cleared to proceed working out and playing without limitations. I am so excited for Myles and his family for this opportunity.”

Stute is one of three returning players from last year’s roster, joining Cam Scott and Jordan Butler.
