The Duke Blue Devils basketball team had a monster 2024-25 season that ended with a trip to the NCAA Tournament Final Four. While they fell short of winning it all, Jon Scheyer and his group walked away with a laundry list of accolades and plenty of momentum heading into the offseason.
That momentum is needed. The Blue Devils have seen a wave of talent exit the program, and the transfer portal has been a busy — and critical — tool for replenishing the roster.
But the biggest news of the week came off the court. Head coach Jon Scheyer made a significant addition to his staff ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Evan Bradds, a former standout at Belmont and an NBA player development coach with the Boston Celtics and most recently the Utah Jazz, was officially named as the newest assistant coach at Duke.
Scheyer spoke about the addition of Bradds and what he brings to the program.
“I’m excited to welcome Evan and his wife, MacKenzie, to Durham,” Scheyer said. “Evan brings an unbelievable basketball mind, NBA player development experience and a unique ability to build meaningful relationships with players—something that’s core to our culture. His experience, vision and forward-thinking approach will help keep Duke at the forefront of college basketball. We’re excited for what’s ahead.”
Bradds’ hiring is another signal that Scheyer is serious about integrating professional-level development into Duke’s DNA — a big selling point for incoming players eyeing the next level.
