Deal terminate: Browns designate key QB to return from injured reserve……

The cornerback group for the Browns is beginning to regain health. Cam Mitchell, a rookie cornerback, has been cleared to come off injured reserve. His hamstring injury put him on injured reserve as of November 7.
Mitchell, a Northwestern University product selected in the fifth round, has made eight appearances this season, starting one. Although he has played 112 defensive plays, most of them as a stand-in for former Northwestern colleague Greg Newsome II in the slot, the majority of his action has been on special teams.
The Browns are hopeful they will get Denzel Ward back this week, too. He has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury but is expected to return to practice on Wednesday.
Mitchell was selected No. 142 overall after four seasons with the Wildcats. In 31 career games, he had 85 tackles, two interceptions and 1 1/2 sacks.
“We liked his ability to play press man coverage. We think he’s very physical, very competitive,” Browns GM Andrew Berry said after the Browns selected Mitchell in April. “We also liked his versatility to play inside and outside. We have a number of guys in our corner group that we cross-train in that regard, because it just gives us more flexibility in our sub packages and we feel Cam fills that role, as well. The other thing I should mention on Cam is we did like his appeal in the kicking game and on special teams, as well.”
