The leaders of this region’s most bitter rivalry were spotted together Wednesday night in Milwaukee. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Bears head coach Matt Eberflus were seen sitting next to each other courtside at Fiserv Forum for the Marquette men’s basketball game.

“There were some people in between, so they weren’t right next to each other, but I did think it was interesting that they both showed up for the Marquette basketball game,” Marquette freshman Abby Larson, who was at the game, said.

Marquette Athletics said it was a coincidence the two coaches both attended Wednesday’s game. LaFleur was a guest of a season ticket holder, and Eberflus was on a college visit with his daughter. The two were seated just a few feet away from one another courtside.

At one point, WISN 12 News cameras captured LaFleur sitting in an open spot right next to the Bears coach to catch up for a couple of minutes. Marquette Athletics snapped a photo of that moment. That photo has now been viewed more than two million times online.

“It’s interesting,” Packers fan Jack Kubacki said. “I mean, maybe LaFleur was giving him some tips to improve. That’s what I took from that.
