South Carolina women’s basketball will face a familiar foe in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament.
The No. 1-seed Gamecocks (30-0) will face Tennessee (19-11) for the third time in 24 days in a semifinals matchup Saturday (4:30 p.m., ESPNU) at Bon Secours Wellness Arena
South Carolina handed Texas A&M 79-68 without its best offense in the quarterfinals on Friday. Senior center Kamilla Cardoso scored 17 points and freshman guard Tessa Johnson added 13.
Tennessee is 2-0 in the SEC Tournament with wins over Kentucky and Alabama. Senior guard Jewel Spear scored 24 points in the win over the Crimson Tide on Friday.
In their two regular season matchups, South Carolina won both games but faced strong competition from Tennessee. The Lady Vols’ eight-point loss to the Gamecocks in Columbia was the smallest margin of victory for South Carolina at home all season.
