BCC Report: Van Morrison on set to play Santa Rosa for the 1st time in almost 20 years. Will fans be satisfied…

Santa Rosa, CA – Legendary Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison is set to return to Santa Rosa for the first time in nearly two decades, and anticipation is running high. The upcoming performance, scheduled for May 15 at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, marks a rare appearance in Northern California by the famously reclusive artist.

The last time Morrison played in Santa Rosa was back in 2006, and since then, his tours have been few and far between in the U.S., especially on the West Coast. Known for his soulful voice, poetic lyrics, and unpredictable live shows, Morrison continues to command respect and awe among music lovers, even at the age of 79.

While the concert is already close to selling out, questions remain: Will fans be satisfied?

Van Morrison has gained a reputation over the years for being an enigmatic performer. Some of his shows have been described as transcendent, while others have left audiences scratching their heads due to his minimal interaction and preference for deep cuts over fan favorites. However, longtime fans argue that this is part of his charm—he’s an artist first and foremost, not an entertainer chasing applause.

The Santa Rosa setlist is expected to include a mix of classics like “Moondance” and “Into the Mystic,” along with selections from his recent jazz-infused albums.

Local music promoter Jon Keller remarked, “Whether you love every song or not, seeing Van Morrison live is a rare experience. For Santa Rosa, this is big.”

With nearly 60 years of music behind him, Van Morrison’s return is not just a concert—it’s an event. And if history is any guide, fans are in for something memorable, if not entirely predictable.
