Captain James Tavernier stressed that “there’s no room for complacency” after Rangers’ ninth win in a row took them above faltering reigning champions Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
“There’s still plenty of games to play and we’ve just got to focus on ourselves,” the right-back said after the 3-0 win away to St Johnstone in which he scored with two penalty kicks.
“We’ve got great momentum at the minute and everyone in the team’s chipping in with their performances.
Manager Philippe Clement made five changes to his his starting line-up, but it did not disrupt his side’s level of performance.
“It’s a headache for the gaffer to pick a starting XI because everyone who comes into the team is playing his part,” Tavernier added.
“The variety of chances we are creating now are really pleasing and we kept a clean sheet – they didn’t have a shot on target. The scoreline could have been more today.
