Irish Olympian Emmet Brennan ‘on redemption mission’ with US debut in New York two years after going sober….

Irish Olympian Emmet Brennan is on a “redemption mission” as he makes his US debut in New York two years after going sober.

The professional boxer will fight Devaun Lee in an eight-round light heavyweight contest at Sony Hall in Times Square on March 7 in a fight that will fulfill his “life-long dream” of performing in the Big Apple.

The 32-year-old from Dublin started boxing aged 10 but gave it up nearly a decade ago, only to return and represent Ireland at Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. Emmet suffered a narrow defeat to Dilshod Ruzmetov in the men’s 81kg light-heavyweight division which saw him jet to New York and “throw all his success away” for partying.
