Tony Bloom Explains why it is time to make head coaching switch….

Tony Bloom has filled his new head coach in on Albion’s history.

The chairman was impressed by Roberto De Zerbi’s knowledge of the club’s fortunes in recent times.

But he also made sure he was aware of where they have come from.

The Seagulls were second from bottom in the Football League and playing as homeless lodgers at Gillingham a quarter of a century ago.

Bloom, pictured, said: “I did very briefly talk about the history going back a little bit longer and it was only 25 years ago we almost didn’t have a club.

“I think that was important. We didn’t spend long on that but I did mention that it used to be a four-hour round trip to get to a home game at Gillingham.

“Having that knowledge and understanding of how the last 25 years have gone, that was the first few minutes of our conversation.”

Bloom does not expect De Zerbi to come to him with a long shopping list when the January transfer window opens.

Albion do not tend to do much business during the winter.

Bloom said: “I don’t think it is going to change at all.

“With Roberto coming in, we have talked about there are a lot of similarities with Graham.

“There is a possibility over the next few months Roberto will want a certain type of player.

“That will be an ongoing discussion between now and January.

“But I don’t see too many changes.”
