Trade Deal: Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce signed his former QB for Jimmy Garoppolo replacement

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce will reportedly do everything in his power to move up in the 2024 NFL Draft for a shot at reuniting with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels — whom he coached from 2019 to 2021 at Arizona State University — to replace Jimmy Garoppolo.

Pierce, 45, and the Raiders currently own the 13th pick in the upcoming draft. He wants to move up to at least fourth, which could mean mortgaging the franchise’s future, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Jayden Daniels out of LSU is a name to watch, as I’ve talked to a few teams who have pointed out Antonio Pierce, who was with him at ASU back in the day, loves him,” Fowler said on Saturday’s episode of SportsCenter. “Of course, he went to LSU, won the Heisman, could be a top 3 pick. Raiders pick 13th, so they would have to make a huge jump to get up there and get him, but it’s at least a possibility.”

The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is currently projected to go third in the draft, only behind Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, though wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is also a hot prospect.
