Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II explain why it was Time to make head coaching switch….

The Steelers’ quarterback room is at the height of offseason conversation. Mason Rudolph, who worked some magic after taking over for Kenny Pickett, his contract status uncertain with discussion of returning. There was also talk from head coach Mike Tomlin about bringing in more QB competition.

But what about trading for a new signal caller? Well, Steelers owner and team president Art Rooney II addressed the idea in a conversation with KDKA TV Sports Director Bob Pompeani.

Rooney II stated that at this point, nothing is off the table.

“As we sit here in early February, we’re not closing the door on anything,” Rooney II said. “We have a lot of evaluations to go through. We’ll go through all the options and do what we need to do to be better this coming season.”

Rooney II has made it clear he’s had enough of the Steelers’ shortcomings in the postseason, despite 17 consecutive winning seasons from Tomlin. And after another Wild Card exit in the playoffs this year, with an uncertainty on the quarterback room, there are some names floating around. There’s been speculation on Chicago’s Justin Fields, the Bears holding the No. 1 pick in the Draft. Veteran Kirk Cousins is slated to hit free agency and Russell Wilson is expected to be cut from the Broncos.

It’ll be interesting to see if Mason is retained, and if any new faces will suit up in the black and gold in 2024.
