So sad: I might not return Alex Palmer declares urgent break due to his current status….

Writing on his personal Twitter account (11 February), the Birmingham Live journalist reports that the first-choice goalkeeper is subject to interest to leave The Hawthorns.
No details about the bid have been revealed, but the player will not play against Bolton which suggests a deal could be on the cards.
“Breaking: Alex Palmer has been left out of today’s game after West Brom received an offer from an unnamed club for the keeper,” he wrote.
It’s typical that after struggling with the goalkeeper department since the exit of Sam Johnstone, we finally settle on a solid number one and now he’s on the move.
An exit would be a catastrophic blow for the Baggies because Palmer has been excellent since becoming the number one under Carlos Corberan, and with the likes of David Button still at the club he shouldn’t be leaving.
But the financial situation of the club right now means that we don’t really have a choice but to let him go if we get a significant offer on the table, and it seems as though that is what has happened.
The hope is that if he is leaving that it won’t be to a Championship rival, because we know that he is good enough for this level and was a big reason as to why our season turned around and we almost made the playoffs.
It’s a huge blow just a week out from the new season, but Corberan will hopefully have a plan in place and the club won’t suffer too much as we’ll have funds to replace him.
