Two behind-the-scenes Michigan staffers departing for the NFL…..

Two more behind-the-scenes staffers at Michigan, including one tasked with working directly with its edge rushers, are heading to the NFL.
Dylan Roney, a graduate assistant credited with helping defensive line coach Mike Elston over the past two seasons, is expected to join Jim Harbaugh’s staff at the Los Angeles Chargers, a source with knowledge of the move told MLive.
Roney was a favorite behind the scenes, with Elston praising the Plymouth, Mich., native and former Ferris State defensive end for his work with the edge rushers. His role on the Chargers’ staff is undetermined at this point, but Roney would follow strength coach Ben Herbert and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, who has yet to be formally announced.
Departed special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh is also making the jump to the NFL, joining the Seattle Seahawks.
Meanwhile, Michigan defensive analyst Doug Mallory is reportedly set to become the defensive backs coach with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, according to 247Sports. Mallory spent the last three seasons on the Michigan staff, helping coordinator Jesse Minter prepare for opponents.
Mallory, a Michigan graduate who played under Bo Schembechler from 1984 to ‘87, spent six seasons on the Atlanta Falcons’ staff from 2015 to 2020. He was also an assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator at Indiana from 2011 to ‘13, and had made previous stops at New Mexico, LSU, Oklahoma State, Maryland, Western Kentucky and Army.
Michigan recently posted a job opening for a football analyst. New head coach Sherrone Moore is still working to fill out his staff, after naming an offensive coordinator (Kirk Campbell), offensive line coach (Grant Newsome), special teams coordinator (J.B. Brown) and strength coach (Justin Tress).
