The Ohio State Buckeyes have lost each of their last three games against the Michigan Wolverines. For a majority of those contests, Buckeyes coach Ryan Day has had to match wits against the Wolverines’ helmsman Jim Harbaugh. Now that Harbaugh has taken the reigns of the Los Angeles Chargers in the National Football League (NFL), there is a new sheriff in Ann Arbor. Former Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore was promoted to head coach earlier this month, filling the empty shoes left by Harbaugh. Moore has been on the Wolverines’ staff since 2018, and has had a front-row seat to witness the Maize and Blue’s recent success.
Moore said the past few years of defeating Michigan’s historic rival have meant more to the program than just earning a win. The first-time helmsman added defeating the Buckeyes is the culmination of every practice and workout from the preseason until the regular-season finale. “It meant everything, I mean just winning that game regardless of whether you’re the head coach or the offensive coordinator, o-line coach, defensive coordinator,” Moore said. “It means everything, that’s everything we work for all year.” Moore also said fans should get used to triumphing over the Scarlet and Gray, as he does not intend on breaking the three-game winning streak against his team’s historic rivals.
