Aonther heavy setback as: Celtics PG Rajon Rondo arrested on gun and drug…

Former Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo was arrested in Indiana over the weekend on misdemeanor gun and drug charges, according to state police.wrote in a press release that an investigation began after a caller informed them a black 2022 Tesla had been traveling recklessly between Indianapolis and Louisville. Rondo, police claim, was later stopped for a traffic violation. A state trooper smelled marijuana from the car, and later discovered a firearm and drug paraphernalia inside the car.
Rondo was arrested and taken to Jackson County Jail, where he posted bond and was released. A minor in Rondo’s car was released to a relative, police said. Rondo’s first court hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 27, in Brownstown, Ind.
Rondo spent the first half of his 18-year career in Boston, where he made four All-Star Games and was a starter on the Celtics’ 2007-08 title team. Rondo returned to Boston in October and attended his first team practice in almost a decade. Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said he appreciated Rondo making the trip, as several ex-players did at the outset of the season.
“The more we can create an open space for the guys who came before us and gave us an opportunity to do what we do, I think it’s important to have,” Mazzulla said. “I’ve always respected (Rondo) as a player. I think he has a great basketball mind, and I’m grateful that he’s here. I know the guys appreciate it, too.”
