I know Xabi Alonso – he would 100% take the Liverpool job

I was in Portugal when I heard the bombshell news about Jurgen Klopp. I thought it was a wind-up to begin with. But then you see it on the news channel.
It still feels weird, he’s so loveable. I remember when Shankly retired. I was 14 or 15 and I was absolutely devastated, for a long time too to be fair. But Bob Paisley came in and did brilliantly.
With Jurgen, we’ve got time to dwell on it which is strange. It’s not like he’s cut off, it’s a really strange one. He’s still got another four months to do what he can for us. But it’s hard, it’s really tough.
