While the injury bug continues to bite Junior Colson, it won’t keep him off the field.
The Michigan linebacker has vowed to play in the Jan. 1 Rose Bowl against Alabama (5 p.m., ESPN), despite sporting casts on both hands to protect injuries he suffered in recent weeks.
While the nature of the injuries are unclear, this much we know: Colson started wearing a cast on his left hand during the Wolverines’ Nov. 4 game against Purdue and played through it, even racking up a team-high 11 tackles in the regular-season finale against Ohio State. And since Michigan won the Big Ten championship on Dec. 2, Colson could be spotted wearing a similar-looking cast on his right hand.
Speaking with the media on Monday, Colson insisted he was feeling “great” while strategically hiding his injured hands inside his sweatshirt.
“I think they’re still going to be in the cast for the game,” Colson told reporters. “They’re still in the cast now. I’ll be fine though.”
