Another set back for lions today as MicMichael Penix Jr make Jim Harbaugh suspend QB J.J McCarthy for……

J.J. McCarthy heard the loud (and proud) crowd of Michigan fans on hand for team’s arrival in Ann Arbor earlier this week.

“One-more-year,” they chanted from outside the team’s practice facility, “one-more-year.” McCarthy, his teammates and coaches looked on from a balcony overhang. At one point, offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore could be seen gesturing to the crowd to make themselves louder.

McCarthy, overcome with emotion, just let it go.

just gotta say this,” McCarthy, bringing himself to interject, responded. “I don’t know how I could leave ya’ll. This is everything about this place that made it home for me. I love every single one of ya’ll, from the bottom of my heart.

“It’s all about the team, the team, the team here — and you guys are included.”

Decision day looms for the Wolverines’ star quarterback, with Monday, Jan. 15, acting as the final deadline for college players to file their formal declaration to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. Several of his teammates have already signaled their intention. McCarthy, named Big Ten quarterback of the year in 2023, has not.

The next 72 hours will go a long way in allowing McCarthy to seek clarity over his decision. Several variables are in play. A return to Michigan could mean the opportunity to chase additional records, win more games and seek a fourth straight Big Ten title. Meanwhile, several NFL draft analysts say McCarthy could wind up as a first-round pick.
