Done Deal Rangers finally land £50m Premier League winger ahead of Celtics….

David Edgar has been told by Rangers that there is nothing to the links with Fenerbahce striker Michy Batshuayi in January.

The Heart & Hand podcast founder reacted to reports via X [10 January] with Philippe Clement’s influence said to be playing a part in this month.

As per The Sun, Rangers were said to be interested in the current Fenerbahce forward, who has scored 28 goals in 53 appearances in Turkey since his move from Chelsea in September 2022.

In light of the Gers’ current striker situation, there was excitement bubbling over at the thought of interest in Batshuayi. The striker has been all over Europe on loan expeditions, playing for the likes of Marseille, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace.

With 53 international caps for Belgium, too, the 30-year-old could have made a huge difference for Clement at Rangers, if the rumours were true.

Continuing to fight on without the injured Danilo or Kemar Roofe, while Abdallah Sima is away with Senegal for the 2023 African Cup of Nations, and Cyriel Dessers’ form running hot and cold throughout the season, Rangers are light in the attacking department.

Clement has reinforced his arsenal with the loan signing of Fabio Silva from Wolves, but that is not enough if Rangers are to succeed in multiple competitions during the current campaign.

Eight points behind rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and battling it out in the knockout stages of the Europa League, Ibrox needs a poacher to add more goals to the team.
