T.J. hockenson Tyler Baron finally announcement that he is leaving the Vikings now another significant issue for the Team……

Before he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings last season, T.J. Hockenson had the fifth-year option picked up on his rookie contract. Seeing as the former Detroit Lion is about to enter his fifth season in the NFL, extension talks are heating up — but reportedly, no agreement is close between Hockenson and the Vikings.

Hockenson reportedly wants his new contract to “reset the market” as part of an “historic” extension for a tight end. But the 26-year-old’s case hasn’t been helped by physical ailments that have kept him off the field and away from his Vikings teammates this preseason.

The biggest contract by total value for an NFL tight end at the moment belongs to George Kittle, whose deal to 2026 with the San Francisco 49ers is worth $75 million — including $30 million fully guaranteed. Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts has a fully-guaranteed $33 million contract that runs out in 2025, while New York Giants tight end Darren Waller’s contract has the highest average annual salary at $17 million.

It’s not unconscionable to think Hockenson’s representation has set its sights on a contract worth $20 million per season, with more guaranteed money than Pitts has secured in Atlanta and a greater total value than Kittle’s contract with the 49ers. This might be a tough ask for Minnesota, which only acquired three-time Pro Bowl selection Hockenson midway through 2022 — not to mention the former top-10 pick has yet to record a 1,000-yard season in his admittedly-short career.
