Why did Deyvid Palepale decide to leave the Michigan team today?” There are a number of reasons behind his decision.View additional…

Jim Harbaugh and his staff are doing a phenomenal job in the 2024 recruiting cycle as they continue to add talented, coveted and complimentary pieces to the already No. 1-ranked class. The class is taking terrific shape and may continue to do so with a true nose tackle prospect in Landisville (Pa.) Hempfield three-star Deyvid Palepale.

Don’t let the modest ranking fool you. The 6-3, 288-pounder has more than 25 offers from some of the biggest programs around the country including Penn State, who he’s also very high on as a Pennsylvania resident, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, USC, Washington and Wisconsin.

Palepale is originally from Alaska, but moved to Pennsylvania as a budding 14-year old athlete. Because of that, his recruitment is quite intriguing. As of right now, two schools are listed as “warm” level interests on 247 Sports — Michigan and Penn State — and he’ll be in Ann Arbor for an official visit in early-June per his Twitter post.

Listed at 288 pounds already, Palepale is short, compact, extremely quick and very active. He actually reminds me of Mo Hurst quite a bit, but he’s much bigger than Hurst was coming out of high school. Because of his build and ability, I see him playing right over the center, or possibly shaded, at about 315 pounds in college. With his quick first step, incredible bend and low center of gravity, he could be a backfield disrupter just like Hurst was.
