Randy Moss, the legendary Minnesota Vikings receiver, is among the best to have ever played the position, but Tyreek Hill, the star of the Miami Dolphins, is arguably even better, according to one of his former colleagues.
That’s a strong assertion, given that the Hall of Famer for the first vote was so dominant in his day that the phrase “You got Mossed” was coined to describe his ability to intercept challenged passes and pose a formidable threat to defenses. Taller receivers were drafted by teams in an effort to avoid the mismatch that was Moss.
But personal preference weighs in when ranking the best all-time wide receivers in the NFL.
Wes Welker, a Dolphins receivers coach and former teammate of Moss, made his case for Hill at a press conference on November 30. “He can run choice (option) routes, he can run lookie (two-way gos), he can take the top off. His ball skills? Coming in and out of breaks. Name a route you don’t like [Tyreek] on. I can’t think of one.” Welker, who has spent the past two seasons as Hill’s coach in Miami, said, “He can run the whole route tree.
