Anthony Edwards, a guard for the Timberwolves, is a rising talent in the NBA who has a signature shoe line with Adidas. The AE 1 will be released this year, with a target release date of December 16th, the business said in September.

Edwards’ new sneakers are expected to be purchased by a lot of fans, but the guard specifically wants Suns player Kevin Durant to wear them once they’re released.

Edwards’ selection of Durant is not surprising, since the fourth-year pro had earlier in the year declared Durant his favorite NBA player.

Durant is unlikely to comply with Edwards’ request, though, as he is bound by a deal with Nike. The Phoenix forward even went so far as to publicly decline Edwards in a direct message on social media.

Durant first signed with Nike out of college in 2007 and has been with the company ever since. He signed a lifetime contract with Nike earlier this year, showing his commitment to the brand.
